From April 29 to summer, the Italian culinary paradise invites Londoners to safely embrace their Eat, Shop, Learn philosophy at Eataly London as the containment restrictions are lifted.

Eataly’s market and shopping area, take-out restaurants, and the all-new outdoor dining concept La Terrazza di Eataly are the first to open their doors.

In a few weeks Eataly will celebrate its grand opening on May 20. On that day they will celebrate the official launch of two indoor restaurants, Cucina del Mercato and Pasta e Pizza, as well as the in-store bars and seating areas around our eateries.

The Eataly market offers over 5,000 high-quality Italian and local food products, including fresh products from their butcher, fishmonger, and salting counters. More than 2,000 wine labels will make Eataly London’s biggest Italian wine cellar. A dedicated Via del Dolce (the Sweet Spot) will showcase the freshly baked Italian cakes, pastry, cannoli, and handmade gelato, the cheese laboratory will produce fresh mozzarella and Italian cheeses on-site every day, and the bulk refill section will be the first Eataly packaging-free area in the world. Eataly will also offer an online store and delivery from the fresh produce market and cellar counters starting April 29.

La Scuola

From 20 May, Eataly’s famous cooking school, La Scuola, will offer courses to take customers on an Italian journey to discover and master classic dishes of Italian cuisine. Bookable online, the courses will be moderated by chefs and specialists in-store and online. The summer will see the launch of additional activities to embrace the hottest season in the capital in true Italian style.

In the post-COVID-19 climate of uncertainty

If it can replicate the American numbers of Eataly Flatiron, the open venue in Madison Square Park in the heart of Manhattan, which with its $80 million annual turnover is the “top scorer” of the group, London will be a success for the Eataly formula.

Nicola Farinetti, CEO of Eataly, explained that London has long been a key objective in the company’s global expansion plans. One of Eataly’s purposes is to bring Italian gastronomic culture abroad, making it accessible to everyone. For its part, Matteo Ferrio, Store Manager of Eataly London, added that the opening will follow all safety criteria and guidelines, so that visitors and employees can experience the Eataly experience in peace.

Founded in 2007, Eataly was born from an idea by Oscar Farinetti: to offer the Italian gastronomic experience at reasonable prices for everyone, celebrate Italian biodiversity and create an informal place to eat, buy food products and learn the culinary art. With more than 40 Eataly stores in 15 countries, Eataly London is the first in the UK and will provide jobs for 300 people.
